It seems surreal to me to see a headline on The Land Report website that reads Farmland: Eye on Iowa, having spent the early part of my life dreaming of the day when I could get away from the land where I grew up.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that my home state of Iowa would have such appeal, especially for the very thing that I have spent my entire career  – life for that matter – holding dear, trying to understand, and hoping to help protect – LAND.  But, as the world’s food production systems become more fragile and investors look to get in early on the asset class that will hold its value, yield tangible ROI, and show great demand in the future, farmland leads the pack.  All of a sudden, it seems everyone is talking about it.  We will keep a close eye on this asset class, conversations surrounding its protection, value appreciation, supply and demand, and the hottest markets around the US for high-quality farmland.  Check back often to see new posts and follow our farmland blog.
